The Cape Town Central City Improvement District (CCID) is pleased to welcome Sharon Sorour-Morris as its new Communications Manager.
Sharon is a seasoned Cape Town journalist, writer and editor who has worked in media for the past 30 years. An award-winning writer, she has written and worked for a myriad publications, edited both consumer and customer titles and written a book, Something on My Mind: Kate Jowell, A Battle with Alzheimer's. She has spent the past two years working as a freelancer across various mediums, from print to digital to publishing.
Prior to that, she worked at Media24 for 10 years, first as Editor of Reader’s Digest, followed by an eight-year stint at DRUM magazine as assistant editor, Cape Town Bureau Chief and Deputy Editor.
“Sharon has a wealth of experience in her field and we are certainly pleased to welcome her to the CCID,” says CCID CEO Tasso Evangelinos.
Says Sharon: “I am excited to join the CCID’s Communications team. It’s a unique opportunity to consolidate my skills, embrace different challenges, learn new things and work for a dynamic and impressive NPC that is adding huge value to the Cape Town Central City. It also feels as if my career has come full circle: I cut my teeth in journalism at The Argus, writing about the City in the early 1990s in my capacity as Municipal Reporter.”
The CCID’s Communications department collaborates across all the CCID’s departments to promote the work of the organisation, which in turn benefits its CBD stakeholders. Apart from being on call around the clock to deal with media and public enquiries, the department produces several publications, from the State of Central Cape Town Report to City Views and the Best of Cape Town Central City guide, runs the CCID website and social media accounts and various campaigns and events.
