The Cape Town Central City Improvement District (CCID) welcomes two new staff members and bids farewell to its interim business manager.
The CCID is pleased to welcome Ernestine Smith as its front of house and database administrator and Stephen Willenburg as its business manager. Both Ernestine and Stephen fall under the office of the CEO, which oversees the day-to-day running of the four CCID operations departments and drives the strategy behind the overall work of the CCID.
Ernestine, whose driving force in life is the empowerment and upliftment of women and children, joined the CCID in June 2018. Exhibiting a natural love for people, Ernestine interrupted her university studies to pursue a position with Estée Lauder, where she worked for well over 10 years. She then went on to complete her TEFL CELTA accreditation at The College of English Language Training in Athens where she taught English for five years. She currently serves on the board of an NPO Khusela Ikhaya and volunteers at various women’s organisations. Joining the CCID was the next step in a natural progression, and she looks forward to making a contribution to an organisation already making a difference.
On 3 September, the CCID also had the pleasure of welcoming Stephen who takes over from Jon Tully – the CCID’s interim business manager.
Born and bred in Cape Town, Stephen qualified as a CA(SA) in 2004 following a three-year training contract within the auditing profession and the completion of his business studies at the University of Cape Town. He has honed his skills as a finance manager in various roles based in Cape Town and abroad in London. With a natural flair for numbers and a hands-on, problem-solving approach, he has extensive experience within the private, corporate and non-profit sectors.
Says CCID CEO, Tasso Evangelinos: “I’d like to welcome both Ernestine and Stephen to the CCID. We are happy to have you on board. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Jon for holding the fort while we searched for a permanent business manager.”
