In terms of staff news, 2017 is a big year for the CCID’s manager of Safety & Security, Muneeb “Mo” Hendricks as he celebrates 15 years with the organisation. This month, we also welcome Kally Benito to our Urban Management department.
A well-known figure in the Central City and with a personality that fills a room, Mo Hendricks has grown the CCID’s Safety & Security department from its early days back in 2002 (when he first joined the CCID, two years after its formation) to a four-person fulltime operational and management team today that oversees a force of more than 230 public safety officers on the ground.
He originally joined the CCID as deputy security manager before becoming manager of the department three years later. His previous experience includes work for private security companies and within the public safety sector, and his passion for what he does has seen him achieve all available security grades. Mo holds a management diploma in security and is himself, in his “free time”, a dedicated law enforcement reservist officer, often to be seen on the streets of the CBD after hours assisting his team in whatever additional capacity he can. He is an elected member of the Ward 77 committee on the City’s Good Hope Subcouncil, and served as an executive member of the Community Policing Forum for many years. From every one of his colleagues at the CCID, we wish him a huge congratulation on his 15-year anniversary.
Kally Benito has joined the Urban Management department as its new assistant manager, and brings with her experience in administration, sales and marketing, children’s education and literature (the latter two combined being a field in which she spent 19 years in children’s educational publishing). A very creative person, her communication skills and expertise in business management and operations will no doubt prove to be highly beneficial to the department. She has also travelled extensively internationally and throughout Africa, enabling her passion for multi-cultural experiences as well as exposure to new ideas and innovations to enrich her knowledge and add value to her professional life. Says Kally: “Being able to ‘talk’ to people in business is really where I excel and it enables me to communicate at all levels.”
